San Pedro, California. They've done it again! Trani's new restaurant is housed in the beloved Canetti's Seafood Grotto Space, the building also known as the "Ellis Island of Los Angeles" because it served as the active U.S. Customs and Immigration processing facility for immigrants arriving in Southern California in the early 1900s. The Trani's have also paid homage to San Pedro's history by filling the space with heirlooms from San Pedro’s past: repurposing a 1,600-pound bank table that once stood in the former First Bank of Italy (on loan from the San Pedro Bay Historical Society) as well as the classic serpentine bar top from the old TC’s Cocktail Lounge. For those of us who miss the old Canetti's, this helps.
